393: Elmo Wished To Have Christmas Every Day! (Sesame Street: Elmo Saves Christmas)

Happy Monday, Christmas Fanatics! We hope you're all having a wonderful July as we barrel ever closer to our beloved 'Ber Months!

To kick off the week, Julia, Thom, and Anthony journey back to Sesame Street - despite the fact that nobody seemed to be able to tell us how to get there! - to cover the 1996 film, "Sesame Street: Elmo Saves Christmas"! Elmo isn't any of our hosts favorite resident of Sesame Street, but does the fact that he's the focal point of this story derail this special for them? And can they get through an entire episode featuring the Muppets without their good friend Mike Westfall of "Advent Calendar House" demanding retractions and apologies?! You'll just have to tune in to find out!

So, settle back, blast that air conditioning, and enjoy this festive treat which is sure to serve as the perfect kickoff to your week! And keep your eyes open this upcoming Thursday, July 25th, for a very special, bonus Christmas in July episode in your feeds!

As always, thanks for your love and support, y'all! ❤️🎅🏻🎄🎁 🦌🦉⛄️🔔🚂 🤶🏻 🎀 ❄️

Happy Monday, Christmas Fanatics!

We are back with another installment of "Tis the Podcast", and this week, we are covering John Woo's 2023, action-holiday film, "Silent Night"! Is this a Christmas movie or merely a film set at Christmas? Does its lack of dialogue enhance the story or seem like a cheap gimmick? Well, the elves have thoughts on all of this, but you'll just have to tune in to find out!

This is a fun, festive episode which is the perfect way to kick off your week! And get excited: now that we're past the Fourth of July, stores will be in full 'Ber-Months mode soon enough!

390: Road to "MaXXXine" Part Two - Please, I'm A Star! - A "Pearl" Retrospective

Happy Thursday, Christmas Fanatics! And Happy Fourth of July to all of our American listeners!   Since we didn't get a chance to record a bonus Independence Day episode this year, we're releasing another episode that was originally intended to drop on Patreon instead! (Hence the explicit tag for language!) Think of it as a second "Summerween" treat, for Anthony is once again joined by his friend, Cookie, to continue their journey on the "Road to 'MaXXXine'". This time, they're sitting down to discuss the Ti West/A24 2022 film, "Pearl" which serves as the "X-traordinary origin story" to "X"!    Listen as they dive deep into the plot of this character study that just happens to contain horror elements, explore its relatable themes, laugh a lot over some pretty uncomfortable moments, and much, much more!    This is a really fun one, so give it a listen and stay tuned - for Anthony and Cookie have one final episode coming quite soon as well: a discussion about the brand new, just-releasing-this-weekend, "MaXXXine", the final installment of this unique horror trilogy!    As always, thanks for your love and support, y'all! And keep an eye on your podcast feeds Monday morning for your regularly scheduled Christmas programming where Anthony, Julia, and Thom will be reviewing 2023's "Silent Night"! ❤️🎅🏻🎄🎁 🦌🦉⛄️🔔🚂 🤶🏻 🎀 ❄️

389: This Is A Completely Unique And Original Situation That Has Literally Never Happened Before. (Family Switch)

Happy Monday, Christmas Fanatics! And Happy First Day of July! We're barreling ever-closer to those 'Ber Months with more than a few big milestones along the way to be hit this month! How exciting is that?

Less exciting is the film the elves are covering this week: the 2023 Netflix Original Movie, "Family Switch"! While they thought they escaped the worst-of-the-worst content after clawing their way out of June's "Bad Sequels" month, this movie certainly didn't make them feel that way; it even elicited a rant from Anthony the likes of which you haven't heard since our "Ernest Saves Christmas" episode! But is the movie really that bad? Is there any semblance of heart or holiday cheer to make this one worth watching? Well, you'll just have to tune in to find out! One thing's for certain though: regardless of the film's quality, this is yet another fun, festive episode of "Tis the Podcast" you want to be sure not to miss!

And speaking of not wanting to miss anything: check out the bonus "Summerween" episode that dropped in your podcast feeds yesterday, in which Anthony and his friend Cookie talk the Ti West/A24 film "X"! It's a good time, and essential listening before seeing "MaXXXine" later this week!

So settle back and enjoy, y'all! As always, thanks for your love and support! We love and appreciate each and every one of you! ❤️🎅🏻🎄🎁 🦌🦉⛄️🔔🚂 🤶🏻 🎀 ❄️

388: Road to "MaXXXine" Part One - I Will Not Accept A Life I Do Not Deserve - An "X" Retrospective

Happy Sunday, Christmas Fanatics! And Happy Last Day of June!    Since we didn't get a chance to record a bonus Fourth of July episode this year, we're releasing an episode that was originally intended to drop on Patreon instead! (Hence the explicit tag for language!) Think of it as a special "Summerween" treat, as it's an episode that covers a movie that takes place in July, but it's a horror film as well! It's also timely given the fact that the movie "MaXXXine" is releasing later this week, and this is the first installment of that trilogy!   Anthony is joined by his friend, Cookie, to discuss the Ti West/A24 2022 film, "X"! This movie, which first introduced the world to Mia Goth's already iconic Maxine Minx, features a group of actors that set out to make an adult film in rural Texas under the noses of the reclusive hosts of the farm they're staying at. However, when the elderly couple catches their young guests in the act, the cast finds themselves in a desperate fight for their lives.   Listen as Anthony and Cookie dive deep into the plot of this modern horror classic, explore its themes of aging and lost opportunities, laugh over the absurdity of the plot, which features two eighty-year-old slashers the script tries to convince us are formidable, and much, much more!    This is a really fun one, so give it a listen and stay tuned - for Anthony and Cookie have two more episodes coming quite soon as well: a discussion about the prequel to this film, "Pearl", and an episode about the upcoming sequel, "MaXXXine"!    As always, thanks for your love and support, y'all! And keep an eye on your podcast feeds tomorrow morning for your regularly scheduled Christmas programming where Anthony, Julia, and Thom will be reviewing 2023's Netflix Original Movie, "Family Switch"! ❤️🎅🏻🎄🎁 🦌🦉⛄️🔔🚂 🤶🏻 🎀 ❄️

387: The World Needs More Santas. (Christmas Commercials)

Happy Leon Day! That's right! We are *officially* halfway to Christmas 2024! Can you believe it? This year is *flying* by!

To mark this celebratory occasion, the elves gathered to once again talk Christmas commercials - our first time since the 2018 holiday season! There have been plenty of new, fabulous ones from all around the world released over the past six years, and our hosts have each picked four that resonated with them to discuss and walk you through! From the heartfelt to the hilarious, from extraterrestrial visitors to visiting grandchildren, from beloved stop-motion-animated sheep to a snowy Manhattan filled with Santas - this extraordinarily festive episode has it all!

So blast that air conditioning, settle back with your favorite holiday drink, and enjoy! And get excited - as of tomorrow, we are *officially* closer to Christmas 2024 than we are to last Christmas! As always, thanks for your love and support, y'all! ❤️🎅🏻🎄🎁 🦌🦉⛄️🔔🚂 🤶🏻 🎀 ❄️

386: You Can Run, But You Can't Hide, Junior! (Home Alone 3)

Happy Monday, Christmas Fanatics! Not only is it our final *official* episode of June (keep your eyes on your feeds for a bonus halfway to Christmas, Leon Day episode that'll be dropping tomorrow!), but it's also the final installment of "Bad Sequels" Month here at "Tis the Podcast"!

The elves (barely) survived the cringe-worthy "Jingle all the Way 2", the disastrous "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure", and the abysmal "A Christmas Story 2". But can they make it through this week's blight on the holiday season with their sanity intact?

This week, they're tackling the 1997 "masterpiece" (ahem) "Home Alone 3"- the one that dared to defy the sacred formula of the original. No Macaulay Culkin? No Catherine O'Hare? No Christopher Columbus? No John Hughes magic? It's like they *wanted* to make a bad sequel!

So, will "Home Alone 3" be the coal in the elves' stockings, or can it somehow, miraculously, rise to the challenge and deliver some holiday cheer? Tune in to find out on this hilarious and entertaining episode of "Tis the Podcast"! 385: Most Guys My Age Wouldn't Admit It, But When It Came To Christmas, I Still Felt Like A Little Kid. (A Christmas Story 2)

Happy Monday, Christmas Fanatics! We hope all the dads out there had a wonderful Father's Day yesterday!

Long before MAX released "A Christmas Story Christmas" back in 2012, there was a direct-to-Home Video sequel to that iconic holiday classic simply called, "A Christmas Story 2"! Naturally, the elves had to cover it as part of "Bad Sequel Month", but is this one *really* as bad as you'd think? They're joined by the always wonderful Matt Eurich of "TGI Podcast" to debate that very question in this fun, festive episode!

Also discussed this week: exactly when we start getting excited for the Ber months during the hot summer slog; new, upcoming Christmas movies and television specials; what we've all been binging lately; and much, much more!

This is one episode you want to be sure not to miss! So, settle in and enjoy! We can guarantee you that this is the perfect way to kick off your Monday! As always, thanks for your love and support, y'all!  ❤️🎅🏻🎄🎁 🦌🦉⛄️🔔🚂 🤶🏻 🎀 ❄️

384: My Dad Works In Nuclear Research. (National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure)

Happy Monday, Christmas Fanatics!

Our journey through "Bad Straight-to-Home-Video Christmas Sequels" continues this week with "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure"! We can't even pretend otherwise - this movie is trash and may very well be the worst thing we've covered in over half-a-decade on the show. It was painful to get through. That said, as is often the case with movies none of us liked, the discussion is a lot of fun!

So, settle in, relax, and enjoy this latest episode which we promise is the perfect way to kick off your week! As always, thanks for your love and support, y'all!

383: Boy, Who Pooped in His Hashbrowns? (Jingle All the Way 2)

Welcome back, Christmas lovers, to another episode of "Tis the Podcast"! This week, the elves procrastinate talking about the movie they're supposed to be discussing for about as long as they can, choosing instead to discuss movies they've recently seen, summer, tattoos, and just about anything and everything else. After a long intro and benig unable to put it off any longer, they dive into the world of awful, straight-to-DVD/streaming Christmas movie sequels with "Jingle All the Way 2"! Larry the Cable Guy stars as a well-meaning but bumbling dad who competes with his daughter's wealthy stepdad to make her holiday wish come true.

Join us as we discuss the film's plot, characters, and the holiday antics that ensue. Does this sequel live up to the original? Tune in to find out! Plus, we share our thoughts on the latest Christmas movie news and what we're looking forward to this holiday season.

Don't miss this festive and fun episode of "Tis the Podcast"! As always, thanks for your love and support, y'all! ❤️🎅🏻🎄🎁 🦌🦉⛄️🔔🚂 🤶🏻 🎀 ❄️

382: I Know It's Hard. We Both Just Have To Be Strong. Just Until It Breaks. (A Creature Was Stirring)

Happy Monday, Christmas Fanatics! And Happy Memorial Day! We hope you're all enjoying your long weekend!

As today is the last Monday of May - if you can believe that! - today we bring to its conclusion Christmas-Horror month! So gather 'round to listen to the elves discuss the 2023 film, "A Creature Was Stirring". There's no sugarcoating this one. This film was bad, but it made for a heck of a fun discussion as your hosts talk through the confusing plot, which is so convoluted they can't even agree upon what happened!

Also discussed: Ethan's upcoming high school graduation; the movie "IF"; and much, much more. So, settle back, relax, and enjoy! As always, thanks for your love and support, y'all! ❤️🎅🏻🎄🎁 🦌🦉⛄️🔔🚂 🤶🏻 🎀 ❄️

381: Holy Crap, You Aren't The Killer! You're Telling The Truth! You Don't Exist! (It's a Wonderful Knife)

Happy Monday, Christmas Fanatics!   This week, Kendall Farrae of "Two Girls, One Crypt" joins us for our latest installment of "Christmas Horror Month"! Discussed this week? The 2023 slasher-comedy, "It's a Wonderful Knife"! While the elves loved "There's Something in the Barn" and found "The Mean One" so bad it's good, is there anything redeemable about this week's film or is it a giant dud? Well...you'll just have to listen to find out! But one thing's for sure: bad or not, it's a really fun discussion, especially with one of our favorite recurring guest hosts!   So settle in, relax, and enjoy this festive, laugh-a-minute episode, which we promise is the perfect way to kick off your week! Enjoy and, as always, thanks for your love and support, y'all!

380: First Off, The Barn Elf Doesn't Like Changes To The Barn. (There's Something in the Barn)

Happy Monday to all! We trust that all the wonderful mothers out there had a splendid Mother's Day celebration! Now that it's passed, however, we are one holiday closer to Christmas! This week, after the elves kick off the episode by discussing the recent storms and harsh weather conditions in Oklahoma, they continued their journey through Christmas Horror month! The movie being covered? 2023's "There's Something in the Barn"! Without giving too much away, this one manages to wow all three elves, making it a must-watch for horror and holiday enthusiasts! Even if you're not a horror fan, this one is worth a watch, just like "Krampus", with which this should be paired with for a double-feature! So settle back, relax, and enjoy this fun, festive episode which is the perfect way to kick off your Monday morning!  ❤️🎅🏻🎄🎁 🦌🦉⛄️🔔🚂 🤶🏻 🎀 ❄️
